Start Building a Home Gym Today

Decide on the type of home gym you want. Do you wish to create a cardio fitness gym, a bare floor space for yoga or weightless workouts, a resistance training gym or a combination.

Go through the following steps to make your home gym a reality:

1. What type of home gym do you want? To answer this determine your fitness goals and what kind of workouts would you realistically do. Don't buy equipment for workouts you hate doing.

2. Set a budget. What is the amount you can spend on your home gym. What's great about a home gym is you can add to it later.

3. Write out the dimensions of your workout space. Some workout equipment is big. Be sure what you buy will fit.

4. Write out a list of equipment to buy first. Prioritize you needs and wants based on your answers to the above questions.

5. Start researching the types of equipment you have on your list. If you have a treadmill on your list, you'll be amazed how many treadmills are available. Quality online fitness equipment reviews are a great starting point because they centralize the information for you.

6. Be ready to change your list. When you're online researching your listed items, you just might find some latest and greatest fitness equipment that is perfect for you. Remember to ensure you focus on buying equipment you'll like using. For example, if you hate running and walking, don't get a treadmill.

7. Don't forget to budget for shipping costs if you buy online. Some fitness equipment has free shipping and some don't. If you pay for shipping, the cost can add up.

8. Consider whether you want to pay for assembly service. If you buy a complicated cardio machine, can you assemble it properly?

9. Get your workout space organized and ready to set up your newly purchased equipment. If you're like me, when a new purchase arrives, you want to get started with it immediately.

Have fun creating your home gym. It can be fun, exciting, and a creative process. Your home gym can be a passion and a work-in-progress that you get to have fun developing for years.
