Is Treadmill Assembly Worth the Additional Cost?

It depends on these 5 factors

Treadmills cost enough as it is, then once you decide to buy a treadmill after extensively researching treadmills you're faced with the decision whether to pay extra money for treadmill assembly - often referred to in the treadmill industry as "white glove" delivery.

In-home delivery to a room of your choice accompanies treadmill assembly. Having your treadmill delivered to the room where you will use it is a nice service. To then have it assembled and calibrated is fantastic.

The question is whether you should fork over the money to pay for treadmill assembly, aka "white glove" delivery.

Consider the following 5 factors when deciding whether to pay for treadmill assembly.

  1. Are you able, and do you have the tools to assemble a treadmill? How handy are you?  Treadmills have computers and motors and wires which can daunt those who are not particularly handing (like myself). Paying for treadmill assembly means your treadmill will be built properly. That's not to say you can't build it properly, but if you have doubts, then think seriously about paying for the "white glove" service.
  2. Do you need help getting your treadmill placed in the room where you want it? If so, get in-home delivery.
  3. Do you get frustrated assembling products? If you struggled putting together a simple bookshelf, then save yourself the hassle and pay for treadmill assembly.
  4. Consider the cost of your treadmill. If you spent $2,500 on the treadmill, spending another $150 - $300 for treadmill assembly is a small price to pay to ensure your very expensive exercise equipment is assembled well. On the other hand, if you spent $300 on a treadmill, spending another $150 to $300 may not be worth it.
  5. How soon will you realistically get to putting your treadmill together? Will it sit in a box for weeks or months? If you get treadmill assembly, your new fitness equipment will be built and ready to go right away.

Not all fitness equipment companies offer in-home deliver and assembly. Two reputable online retailers that does is Bowflex - where you can buy Bowflex, Nautilus, and Schwinn and Universal fitness equipment and Workout Warehouse which sells a large variety of excellent fitness equipment.

Don't readily ignore or shrug off treadmill assembly when you buy a treadmill or any expensive exercise equipment. Determining whether to pay for treadmill assembly is part of your treadmill purchasing research. Ask yourself the above questions so you save yourself hassle and problems in the long run if treadmill assembly is right for you.

Info in this article "...Is it worth the cost?" It's excellent for consumers and accurate. Here's another tidbit, many customers have the impression that each manufacturer ie NordicTrack,Sole,Proform, etc have their own factory trained techs who will come to their home and assemble or repair their equipment,THEY DON'T.They contract with smaller companies to do actual repairs or assembly. In these smaller companies you have bad techs and good techs, like any industry, but think about this, a Retail giant charges a common fee of $200 for an Elliptical assembly the tech only makes $35-$40 not per hour but TOTAL! for doing the job.It takes 1-1/2 to 2 hours for a GOOD tech to do assembly.Do the math. The quality of work cannot be guaranteed under those conditions and semi consistant at best.Consumers should know ALTERNATIVES EXIST where your not being overcharged and good techs are not under payed.

Tomas is right.. and it is important that you find not just any tech but a company that offers a guarantee on their assembly.. any tech can assemble for cheap but a company that has a reputation to protect will make sure you are absolutely satisfied with the work.

If you do want to make sure your treadmill is assembled properly make sure you go with a assembly provider that has been in the business for years. There are a lot of fly by night assemblers out there. Cost usually ranges from 100-200 depending on your geographic location. http://www.assembly360.net
